Photo Facial Treatment At Dr. Konain Clinic

Say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation & more. Exposure to sunlight for few minutes in a day is helpful for a human body. However, Too much exposure results in sun tan and even damage the skin. In order to reverse the sun damage, many people opt for photo facial treatment.

So, What Is A Photo facial?

Photo facials are treatments that use different types of light emitting devices to treat skin discoloration and reduce the appearance of blemishes. Photo facials have number of different uses but are mostly used for boosting collagen and treating various skin conditions such as acne, brown spots, etc.

Types Of Photo Facials

There are two types of photo facials – Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photo facials and Light Emitting Diode (LED) photo facials – and each has its benefits and drawbacks.

IPL Photo facials

Involve a handheld device that emits pulses of broad spectrum light through direct contact with the skin. It acts on the deeper layers of the skin, making it ideal for treating broken capillaries, sun damage and other impurities.

LED Photo facials

Involve handheld devices or lamps that emit various colors of LED light. The effects of this procedure are believed to be  influenced by the color of the light. LED photo facials act on the epidermis, making photo facial option for treating surface blemishes like acne.

What Are Photo Facials Used for?

  1. Rosacea
  2. Broken capillaries (blood vessels)
  3. Sun damage (sun spots)
  4. Hyperpigmentation
  5. Spider veins
  6. Freckles
  7. Fine lines

How Do Photo Facials Work?

Both IPL and LED photo facials involve light being absorbed into the skin. The more intense nature of the IPL photofacial’s light pulses allow this light to be absorbed more deeply. IPL photofacial light is soaked up by the hemoglobin (red blood cells) and melanin (pigmentation) in the skin, intentionally damaging these areas. The damage melanin breaks up and is absorbed by the skin, decreasing its appearance on the skin’s surface. The damaged hemoglobin stimulates blood flow, causing the melanin to be absorbed more efficiently.

LED photofacial’s work differently depending on the light color question. Green light works similarly to IPL photofacial’s, breaking up melanin for easier absorption. Other colors, like the blue and red light, act on different aspects of the skin.
